Privacy Policy
MeQueda is operated by Forja Labs (Florida, USA) and is in pre-release testing.
MeQueda (“MeQueda”, “we”, “us”) helps you see your accounts, spending, bills, subscriptions and debts in one place. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the MeQueda iPhone app and the MeQueda website.
1. Our approach
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We never see or store your bank username or password.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, phone number (if you sign in by phone), and the identifier from the sign-in method you choose (email, phone, Google or Apple).
Financial information you connect. If you link a bank, card or loan account, we receive information from your financial institution through Plaid, such as account names, types, the last digits of account numbers, balances, transactions, merchant names, and loan or credit card details (for example statement balances, due dates and interest rates when available).
Information you enter. Budgets, envelopes, categories, bills, subscriptions, paycheck plans, debts, notes, manual accounts, and corrections you make so the app can learn how to categorize your transactions.
Profile photo. If you choose a profile photo, the app creates a small 256-pixel image on your device and stores only that thumbnail with your budget. The original photo is not uploaded.
Email receipts (optional). If you choose to connect a Gmail or Outlook mailbox, MeQueda requests read-only access to find purchase receipts and match them to your transactions. You can disconnect at any time. See section 6.
Device and technical information. Our servers process technical data needed to deliver the service securely, such as IP address, request times and error information. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.
3. How we use information
- To provide the service: show balances, categorize transactions, detect recurring bills and subscriptions, project cash flow and send reminders you turn on.
- To learn from your corrections so future transactions are categorized the way you prefer. This learning applies to your own account only.
- To keep your account secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and troubleshoot problems.
- To communicate with you about your account, such as verification codes and important service notices.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Plaid
MeQueda uses Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to gather your data from financial institutions. By connecting an account, you acknowledge and agree that your information will be treated in accordance with the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. You can disconnect a linked institution in the app at any time.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us operate MeQueda, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing services to us:
- Financial data connectivity (Plaid).
- Sign-in and identity services (including Supabase, Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple, depending on what you use).
- Cloud hosting and database providers that store and process your budget.
- Email and text-message delivery providers that send verification codes and account messages.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
6. Google and Microsoft user data
MeQueda's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use mailbox access only to find receipts you asked us to match, we do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and no person reads your email except with your consent, for security purposes, or as required by law. The same limits apply to Microsoft Outlook data.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS) and protect provider access tokens and secrets with encryption tied to your account. On iPhone, cached budget data is stored in an encrypted local database. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings › Data & privacy › Delete my account. Deletion revokes your bank connections with Plaid and erases your budget, transactions, profile, preferences and provider settings. To prevent old sessions from restoring deleted data, we keep a minimal deletion record containing only opaque identifiers, with no financial history or profile details.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and export: you can export your data from the app at any time.
- Correction: you can edit your information in the app.
- Deletion: you can delete your account in the app as described above.
- Disconnect: you can disconnect banks or mailboxes at any time.
- Notifications: reminders are off unless you turn them on, and you can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live (for example California and other U.S. states with privacy laws), you may have additional rights to know, access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. Because we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, there is nothing to opt out of. Contact us to exercise these rights.
10. Children
MeQueda is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
12. Contact
Email privacy@forjalabs.dev. You can also delete or export your data directly in the app.
